Forum and exhibition on the Urban Renewal Strategy (URS) Review

sspurs_001 In 2001, Urban Renewal Authority was established and the first Urban Renewal Strategy was also promulgated. It stated that URA is committed to adopt a “people first” approach. However, the redevelopment projects in following years resulted in great controversy. Development Bureau, therefore, launched the Urban Renewal Strategy Review in 2008.

The new Urban Renewal Strategy has been promulgated in early 2011. Sham Shui Po District Council Working Group on Urban Revitalisation and Historic Buildings Conservation, therefore, initiated a research and campaign on the new URS review, hoping to review the reasons for the establishment of URA and the associated regulations in order to evaluate its effectiveness.

The campaign consists of forum, exhibitions and associated publications.
